1. I only started doing this from my previous drawing, and it is kinda helpful.
Without it, I would get something like, a flat looking foreground drawing with
hues unfitting for the background shade.
2. You don't have to use Lasso; I just find it better at filling ALL the area
that needs to be filled, so no holes that could be forgotten if a brush is used
instead.

3. When picking a darker shade of something, especially close to the red/yellow
area of the spectrum, try picking a darker shade of a hue closer to red. (ie.
yellow as lighter colour, pick an orangy shade as a darker colour)

4. I label my layers so I don't get lost because I keep those layers. Whenever I
lasso something new, I create a new layer to fill and work on, so I can delete
it and redo if I really hate it.

5. after laying down the basic shadows, I use a softer brush with an
opacity of around 15% to smoothen out between the darker and lighter areas.

6. Emphasis on the shadow. Also putting the solid shades for shadows behind
really close objects, like hair and stuff.
